We would like to invite anyone in need of a family picture, to come have one at no charge. We are starting a Project to make sure that everyone has access to a family picture, no matter what is available in your wallet.
This is a gift, a memory that everyone should have on their wall. Please share this information with anyone who is in need of a family picture.
Thursday, December 6th from 5 pm to 8 pm
Saturday, December 8th from 12 noon to 4 pm
At Broadview University
898 North 1200 West
Orem, Utah 84057
If you would like to volunteer, please come an hour early or stay an hour later to help clean up.
Please watch our blog for upcoming events
If you have any questions, please direct them to picturingfamily@gmail.com
If you know of someone who needs a picture, and are not able to attend either night, please email us directly.
And thank you to all those who are volunteering or have donated any items. We will have a list of those awesome companies and people.
I live in Idaho, but saw your story on KSL. Just wanted to say that I think what you are doing is awesome. My husband laughs at me every year when I schedule ours because "I know what we look like". I know he's a "guy" and doesn't really get it but I know he will look back and be happy that I was insistant. Memories and family are two of the most important treasures we can have. I wish I was closer so I could help. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. And you can help. Spread the word. I hope to have this expand and go into many communities. We just need help with the supplies and places to have them (down here in Utah County). Anyone can do this.
DeleteThis is great! I actually had this idea a few months back when my wife and I really wanted to get family pictures done but couldn't afford the sitting fee for our favorite photographer. Good on you!
ReplyDeleteI understand all too well. I started this as I could many years ago, but now have the opportunity to help many people thanks to Broadview University (pushing me to do a service project) and a large donation by Vivint... we still have donations coming in and this will be an awesome tradition to continue!
DeleteDo you have to have an appointment? Do you just email the picture to people? I have a 20 month old and we have never had a family picture taken with him. My mom keeps telling me we need one, I know I do... It just isn't possible with our income. We will be there. I was so excited when I read the story on KSL.
ReplyDeleteNo appointment necessary. We will have about 4-6 photographers each day (at least). Thursday will be mostly studio shots and Saturday will be a combination. We are hoping to get some awesome set ups for Saturday (outside). It will be an amazing time for all of us. And we are going to try and print 1 8x10, some Christmas cards, and burn the images to a CD. It just depends on how many show up.
DeleteIn 14 years I have never had a full family photo. Kids and I did one for a father's day gift at Temple Square but never a full family one, and this was just a friend snapping pics of us. If you guys come out closer to the West Jordan area, I'd love to have one done. I think what you are doing is wonderful. I'd love to get a generation picture done. My mom raised us and we never had a family photo. I hope you are blessed for all you are doing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your feedback. We are going to try and do one in Jan/Feb up in the SLC area. If not, email me at picturingfamily@gmail.com and we will see if we can't find a photographer in your area (I have recently been in touch with quite a few). Oh, and FrontRunner is free on Saturday if that will make a difference.
DeleteThis is amazing :) we have never had a family picture done with all of our kids. We had christmas cards when we had our first baby, but due to his health complications (heart defect) and baby #2 coming 2 months early and also having a heart defect, and baby #3 just 14 months after #2 who has a weird seizure/passing out disorder, we havent had the means to get pictures done. We will DEFINITELY be there and I will spread the word.

DeleteI don't have near as big of following as KSL, but I wanted to help spread the word for you and your wonderful project:

Thank you for doing this wonderful project. I hope it is very successful!
That is so sweet! And I loved the story. It was very well written. It was and is my dream to do this. I really appreciate it. We all do.
DeleteI was just talking to my husband about getting our pictures done but we just couldn't see the extra money. My son with a heart defect and my daughter with hydrocephalous and having multiple surgerys this year. I hope we can make it. Are you just doing family pictures orare you also going to be doing individual pictures as well?
ReplyDeleteSamantha- It is depending on the photographer and the time (how many people are waiting). If you are still in need of something after you come down to our project, please let me know. We will try and make sure you are taken care of.
